A Trip to the Zoo

September 15th 2006 -

It’s been 6 months since we last had a TA gathering and that was at Marche. I personally think Marche wasn’t a bad choice for a large group to get together provided that everyone doesn’t mind the price. The food at Marche may be a little bit too expensive if you were to included appetizer, main course, drink and desert (comparing it to other same range of restaurant). It may total up to RM100++ per person (depending on what you order). I did find the market concept rather unique. That’s probably what makes Marche stand out from the rest.

So this time round, we suggested a few places to go, either a place to eat or a place for outdoor activity. And it turned out that “Zoo Negara” had the highest votes compared to others. The majority of votes came from those who had not visited the zoo. As for me, I don’t mind going there again. Who knows, I might catch a glimpse of another “animal show” at the tiger section. Haha…

The entrance fee to the zoo had increased from RM8 to RM15 for adults. That’s a total of RM7 increment! Sigh. Does the increment of the petrol price affect the business of the zoo apart from shipment of the animal food? The only difference I noticed since my last visit to the zoo, here and here, was the implementation of the bar code scanner. Wah, high-tech wey!!!

But what’s the point anyway? Okay, I think the wrist band is necessary but definitely not the bar code on the band. Even Genting’s wrist band doesn’t have bar code for their theme park, do they? Haiyoo! Waste money only.

Since Kevin bought himself a new Canon 30D camera. I got to use his 20D backup camera along with a 17-55mm f2.8 IS lens.

This was my first time using a SLR. Not bad. Love the quality of the pictures that turned out. But it can be pretty heavy for a petite person like me to carry around the whole day. I couldn’t imagine myself photographing a wedding, having to carry a bag of camera equipment. I would probably end up walking like a hermit crab by end of the day and grow a few centimeters shorter. Haha.. Just joking.

As usual, Kevin would try his luck to get a good picture of the tiger, which is his favourite spot in the zoo apart from the ape section. But no luck this time. The tigers were too lazy to pose for the camera. They probably already had their meal.

But this time, I managed to capture something rather interesting which I didn’t see during my previous visits.

The elephant was facing its butt right where I was standing and it started to pee and then poop. Hey, mind your manners! You shouldn’t face your butt at people when doing that.

These 2 elephants so happened to be to posing while facing each other. Love this picture.

The ape on the right seriously needs a grooming. Its fur is all tangled up.

And I found these bright looking mushrooms on a tree trunk. Maybe the zoo could consider growing some interesting plants. Hehe..
