Time Out KL: On The Up
Last Wednesday on the 19th of November, I attended Time Out KL: On The Up at No Black Tie. I’ve heard of No Black Tie from a friend who previously had performed there, but I personally have never been there.

For those who have not been there, No Black Tie is located same row as Palate Palette Restaurant and Bar.
Address: 7 Jalan Mesui, off Jalan Nagasari, 50200 Kuala Lumpur

No Black Tie is a very nice and cozy place to chill out after a busy day at work with friends. I like how the overall look of their interior and the ambiance is just right. Their sound system were good too.
At No Black Tie, the night just never sleeps. They have music performances every day of each month. Seriously, I’m sure you’ve seen the schedule. So everyday is never boring.

My friends and I arrived at the place really early that night to get our tables. Because I was told that the place is usually packed. Even if you’ve reserved a table but arrived late, you might not event get a place. And seriously, it was packed. Where else in KL can you find such places that have good music every night?

The night kicked off with the first performance by An Honest Mistake. They music were catchy and I think they have a lot of potential to grow in the music industry. For some angle, the vocalist looks a little like my friend.

Next performance were by The Bassment Syndicate. No vocals for this one, just instrument. They started off by playing a song called “How Deep Is Your Love” and that one really got the crowd’s attention. The song is still in my head actually. Like that one.
I thought it was really sentimental. If you’re into Jazz music, you might just enjoy their music.

And coming up is performance by Alaling and the Kaya Koks. Alaling has a really beautiful voice. One of the song she sang was “Facebook“. I thought that one was cute. Especially the part where the lyric goes, “… I want to poke you, and poke you and superpoke you on Facebook…” and “… I want to buy and sell you and buy and sell you again on Friends For Sale…”. Something like that. ![]()
Alaling and the Kaya Koks are no strangers to some of us as she previously had performed at several events such as the most recent Nokia Nuffnang Silent Halloween.

The last performance for that night was by Rendra Zawawi and his band. Frankly speaking, I thought their performance were one of the best that night. Oh my must they always keep the best for the last.

That night I went back home exhausted. Although I may had a lazy afternoon that day but the whole music scene somehow added some spices to my boring day. Haha…
I’ve always wanted to attend music performances as such but never really gotten the chance because not many people that I know were into those kind of music.
Overall, I think the that local music artists and bands have a lot of potential. Just very a pity that that not many people have heard of them.
For those who would like to join us at the next Time Out KL: On the Up. Do mark down your calendar on the 17th of December. ![]()

OK! 3rd Anniversary
Just few days ago was OK! 3rd Anniversary party. It was also my 3rd time attending OK! mag event.
I knew about the event but was undecided about going because knowing that most likely I might be going alone because Aaron, Kel li and Nigel was working during the event night. But was fortunate to have Stephy accompanying me there that night. So happened that her boyfriend and mine were both busy that night. So we kind of like dating each other for the event. LOL!
As usual, the invites for OK! event can only be obtained through the magazine. Meaning, you’re forced to purchase the magazine in order to get the pass. That was the same thing they did for FHM event some time back. Very smart of them.
Well, unless you’re some high profile people and you can just walk through the VIP entrance.

OK! 3rd Anniversary - A tribute to the movies, was held at Zouk KL. Same venue as their previous OK! Celeb Fest event.

400 early birds with invites were entitled an exclusive goodies bag and there were also free flow of Guinness Drought for everyone. Usually, I would prefer if they give the goodies bag after the event because no one like to carry their goodies bag while enjoying the party. That’s so troublesome and so the potong steam wei. Well, I didn’t really drink that night. Don’t really fancy liquir or alchohol.

Suki, the winner of One In the Million performed that night.

While Joanne Kam Poh Poh was the host for the event.
Somehow the sound system was really terrible that night. The music were louder than the mic. Can hardly hear Suki or Joanne speaking while the music playing in the background. I still preferred Serena C as the host. Serena really knows how to control the crowd. Although she may appear to be a little bossy, but she gets her way most of the time.

Kel li was one of the crew during the event. Was a tiring night for her, Aaron and Nigel. They all arrived at Zouk as early as 1pm to do some setup.

Managed to get Jonathan Putra (a.k.a JP) from Channel V and NTV7 Breakfast show to pose for photos. He was really friendly. As in, really friendly. Not many celebs that I know would actually talk to anyone. When I mean anyone, I meant people like us. The nobody. Haha… Yeah, they are human still.

Aaron looking exhausted after posing the whole day. Haha… Read his blog and you’ll get what I mean. ![]()

Overall, I think the event was a little boring compared to those previous ones the had. The only entertaining part was when they bought in those movies character to perform. That one were hilarious!
Check out picture of Hell Boy and Iron Man at Nigel’s Blog. Love the Ironman suit. That one was the best among the rest. ![]()
An Unfortunate Day
Just few days ago, I had a very uneventful and unfortunate Friday. What happened? What did I do? I had no classes that day and I slept through my whole afternoon. How worst can that be?
That very night, me and my friend, Mike, had planed to attend the so-called most-talk-about event, GoMobile, at PWTC. For those who have no clue whatsoever about the event, GoMobile is the mobile version of PC Fair. Get it? PC Fair sells computer related stuff. GoMobile sells mobile related stuff.
Okay, that evening, the initial plan was to meet up with Mike at the Star PWTC station at 7.30pm. So I got my dad to drive me to the nearest LRT station. Dad suggested that I get my brother to drive me since dad wasn’t feeling well but the excuses given by my brother was the petrol tank was close to empty. Never mind. So, dad send me instead and he took the risk of driving the close to empty car. Asuming that with that minimum amount of petrol he might just be able to drop me off at the LRT station. And half way on the road, the car just died. In the middle of the road. Okay, not exactly. He managed to pull over to the side of the road.
So, what do you do when you’re caught in that kind of situation? Find an empty bucket and fill it with some petrol. The only thing dad managed to find in the car was a 50ml mineral water bottle. Great! Just Great! Doubt that little bottle was enough to get the car running to the nearest petrol station. So, dad called up his friend who live nearby to get help. I was already running late. And I mean, super late. Dad’s friend only arrived at 8pm and that was half an hour after the agreed time which I supposed to meet up with Mike.
Well, if you noticed, I even had some time to snap some pictures by the road.
I was a little annoyed at my brother for being so stingy. He can’t even pay RM5 or RM10 to fill up the tank. Seriously. The allowance the gets was way too much when I was at his age and he can’t even afford to buy nasi lemak for my dad. That incident was some time back. It just get on my nerves. Arrg!

Approximately 8pm, dad’s friend arrived with a 1.5liter. Got it filled a little which was just enough to get the car running to the nearest petrol station which was just at the end of the junction. Arrived at the LRT station at 8.10pm. I think Mike would have been cursing me by then already. Imagine, being an hour late. That wasn’t the only problem. I had 5 trains passing my opposite platform and not a single train arrive on my side. How frustrating can that be? One problem after another. By time I arrived at PWTC station, it was 8.45pm. That poor feller must have been starving already having to wait for nearly 2 freaking hours. Goodness! I have not been that late in my entire life!
So I told Mike to go ahead and not wait for me as I will just meet him at PWTC itself. Upon arriving, I was seriously hoping the event was going to be as good as we were told during the Quantum of Solace screening at Cineleisure. But I was disappointed! Serious seriously disappointed. It was nothing compared to PC Fair at all! They only occupied one floor and it wasn’t the entire floor. Despite only had 5 minutes (because the exhibition closed by 9pm and I thought was 10pm) to look around, I felt that the event was totally overrated. Yes, the 30,000 freebies were real. And yes, the 150 units of hand phones were real. But they were only worth merely RM300. I’m not complaining but they could have given out more attractive prizes. Mike only got 2 notepad from his lucky dip. I didn’t get to do the dip because the counter was arrived when I arrived. Oh well…

I saw quite a number of unknown China hand phone brand that sell imitation of iPhone, Nokia, Sonny Ericson models but their features were really the cacated. I don’t blame them, they are just doing their business by catering phone for lower income earners who can’t afford the original one.

Before the exhibition ends, we saw a few of pretty promoters. And they were really pretty. Honestly. Am speaking from a girl perspective.
But just a pity that not all of them can speaks English. I’m not saying that my English is perfect whatsoever. Just thought that people who know English would have better advantage in many areas. And of course, I do agree that if you’re a Chinese you should at least know your own mother tongue. But anyway… (Please don’t shoot me)

Motorola was having RM50 off on all their gadgets and accessories. Mike managed to get a reasonable deal off a blue tooth music head set. But I thought since it was mobile fair and Mike was their last customer for that day, they could have at least given a little more discount or probably throw in some freebies. But oh well…
Candy, anyone?

I only been to GoMobile on the first day and that was towards the end of the their exhibition. Not sure how well did it go on Saturday and Sunday. Supposingly free hand phones (worth up to RM299) were giving out during random hours and there was a treasure hunt going on as well. Did anyone else go to GoMobile? I would like to know how did it go…

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa Review
Just over the week, I attended the premiere screening of Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, by Nuffnang.

As everyone know that Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa is the second installation of the first movie. After watching the movie, I personally think that this is one of the few movies which second part is better than the first. Well, both of them are equally good actually.
For those who have not seen the first Madagascar, that one was pretty good too, especially their theme song “I like to move it“.
In Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, the movie takes us back to how Alex (the lion) ended up in Central Park, New York. And a little flash back of some scenes of how all the four characters - Alex (the lion), Marty (the zebra), Gloria (the hippo) and Melman (the giraffe), first ended up at Madagascar.

While this time, with the help of the penguins they are determine to fly back to New York. But somehow the plan didn’t work out as what they have planned. Their plane crashed and all of them ended up in Africa. Africa may seems like a great place…but is it better than their Central Park home?

Okay, that is just a little part of the movie. Enough of my spoiler, now go grab yourself a movies tickets. You will definitely enjoy it. *Two (2) thumbs up*
For now, do check out the following video clip. As well as their Trailers & Video Clips on yahoo. ![]()
I Was That Ulgy Little Kid Who Turned Up At Nuffnang’s Silent Halloween
I kid you NOT! Haha…
My Halloween costume (the bloody mummy) was inspired by one of Kev’s photo. To dress up as a mummy, there are several way to source from. You can either rent/purchase those ready made. Or , you can look up on some DIY Halloween costume online. Else, you could easily go to any nearby pharmacy to purchase bandages that look like these…
.jpg)
These bandages come in different length and sizes. There are also two (2) colours to choose from, white or brown (skin colour). The one I used were brown (skin colour) in colour.
Below are some of the items that I used to prepare the whole mummy outfit.
- Brown and black poster colour to coloured the bandages - to create the dirty effect by soaking the bandages with coloured water
- Black eyeliner - to colour one eye
- Thread and needle - to sew the bandages together
- A pair of socks
- Fake blood
- A singlet
- A short / tube / boxer (anything that you’re comfortable wearing as bottom)
- Bandages (as many as you need. For me, I used up 9 bandages. )
.jpg)
.jpg)
After dying the socks and bandages, there are how they look like. If you want it to be dirtier, add more black to it. Make sure you hang it to dry before putting it on.

I cut holes between the singlet and tube to get the torn and rugged look. While I wrapped the bandages around my body, I sew the bandages onto each other to hold them together instead of using the clips (that came along with the bandage).
Next, don’t forget black colour nails. To make it look creepy. After all, it’s Halloween. ![]()
.jpg)
After I’m done with the wrapping. I added fake blood to make it look scary. And smear some black poster colour on some of the skin surface to create the dirty look.
** Note: Because the bandages, socks, tube, singlet are dyed in colour. I had to wash my hands several times as well as mop the floor when I get on and off the washroom.

My Halloween costume was specially prepared for Nuffnang’s Silent Halloween event. The whole costume took me about two (2) days to prepared. It was one of my first Halloween party and I really had a great time dressing up. Well, this is one of the rare occasion where you can dressed up as ugly as you like and no one will call the cop to report you in can walking devil. LOL! Just kidding…
At the party, I met few other monsters who were some what like me. Sort of. Just kidding.. :p
.jpg)
Robert, the human-like vampire, whose cries blood tears. Haha… I just made that up.
.jpg)
Ringo, the beautiful Marilyn Monroe.

Here we have Simon a.k.a. Black Jack.
.jpg)
Tarzen?
.jpg)
Klubbkidd a.k.a. Kurt Cobain
.jpg)
And Robb, the rather clean but scary mummy. ![]()
I didn’t really get to take many photos that night because most of the time was trying to make sure my bandages do not fall off. LOL.
