An Unfortunate Day
Just few days ago, I had a very uneventful and unfortunate Friday. What happened? What did I do? I had no classes that day and I slept through my whole afternoon. How worst can that be?
That very night, me and my friend, Mike, had planed to attend the so-called most-talk-about event, GoMobile, at PWTC. For those who have no clue whatsoever about the event, GoMobile is the mobile version of PC Fair. Get it? PC Fair sells computer related stuff. GoMobile sells mobile related stuff.
Okay, that evening, the initial plan was to meet up with Mike at the Star PWTC station at 7.30pm. So I got my dad to drive me to the nearest LRT station. Dad suggested that I get my brother to drive me since dad wasn’t feeling well but the excuses given by my brother was the petrol tank was close to empty. Never mind. So, dad send me instead and he took the risk of driving the close to empty car. Asuming that with that minimum amount of petrol he might just be able to drop me off at the LRT station. And half way on the road, the car just died. In the middle of the road. Okay, not exactly. He managed to pull over to the side of the road.
So, what do you do when you’re caught in that kind of situation? Find an empty bucket and fill it with some petrol. The only thing dad managed to find in the car was a 50ml mineral water bottle. Great! Just Great! Doubt that little bottle was enough to get the car running to the nearest petrol station. So, dad called up his friend who live nearby to get help. I was already running late. And I mean, super late. Dad’s friend only arrived at 8pm and that was half an hour after the agreed time which I supposed to meet up with Mike.
Well, if you noticed, I even had some time to snap some pictures by the road.
I was a little annoyed at my brother for being so stingy. He can’t even pay RM5 or RM10 to fill up the tank. Seriously. The allowance the gets was way too much when I was at his age and he can’t even afford to buy nasi lemak for my dad. That incident was some time back. It just get on my nerves. Arrg!

Approximately 8pm, dad’s friend arrived with a 1.5liter. Got it filled a little which was just enough to get the car running to the nearest petrol station which was just at the end of the junction. Arrived at the LRT station at 8.10pm. I think Mike would have been cursing me by then already. Imagine, being an hour late. That wasn’t the only problem. I had 5 trains passing my opposite platform and not a single train arrive on my side. How frustrating can that be? One problem after another. By time I arrived at PWTC station, it was 8.45pm. That poor feller must have been starving already having to wait for nearly 2 freaking hours. Goodness! I have not been that late in my entire life!
So I told Mike to go ahead and not wait for me as I will just meet him at PWTC itself. Upon arriving, I was seriously hoping the event was going to be as good as we were told during the Quantum of Solace screening at Cineleisure. But I was disappointed! Serious seriously disappointed. It was nothing compared to PC Fair at all! They only occupied one floor and it wasn’t the entire floor. Despite only had 5 minutes (because the exhibition closed by 9pm and I thought was 10pm) to look around, I felt that the event was totally overrated. Yes, the 30,000 freebies were real. And yes, the 150 units of hand phones were real. But they were only worth merely RM300. I’m not complaining but they could have given out more attractive prizes. Mike only got 2 notepad from his lucky dip. I didn’t get to do the dip because the counter was arrived when I arrived. Oh well…

I saw quite a number of unknown China hand phone brand that sell imitation of iPhone, Nokia, Sonny Ericson models but their features were really the cacated. I don’t blame them, they are just doing their business by catering phone for lower income earners who can’t afford the original one.

Before the exhibition ends, we saw a few of pretty promoters. And they were really pretty. Honestly. Am speaking from a girl perspective.
But just a pity that not all of them can speaks English. I’m not saying that my English is perfect whatsoever. Just thought that people who know English would have better advantage in many areas. And of course, I do agree that if you’re a Chinese you should at least know your own mother tongue. But anyway… (Please don’t shoot me)

Motorola was having RM50 off on all their gadgets and accessories. Mike managed to get a reasonable deal off a blue tooth music head set. But I thought since it was mobile fair and Mike was their last customer for that day, they could have at least given a little more discount or probably throw in some freebies. But oh well…
Candy, anyone?

I only been to GoMobile on the first day and that was towards the end of the their exhibition. Not sure how well did it go on Saturday and Sunday. Supposingly free hand phones (worth up to RM299) were giving out during random hours and there was a treasure hunt going on as well. Did anyone else go to GoMobile? I would like to know how did it go…
