Le Tour De Langkawi 2009

Photos taken at the Le Tour De Langkawi 2009 event.

The event was held two (2) weekends ago in varies states. I was there to witness the race for stage 5 (Petaling Jaya to Genting Highlands) and stage 7 (Kuala Lumpur Criterium).

A cyclist from the Malaysian team showing peace sign while climbing the Genting hill. That’s a Prince frame, by the way.

This is Jose Serpa, the cyclist who won the title for Best Individual Classification (yellow jersey) and Best Mountain Classification (red polka dot jersey) at stage 5. Picture was taken at Genting Highlands.

While the following pictures are taken at the Kuala Lumpur Criterium, Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.

Hey, that’s Jose Serpa in the yellow jersey and his teammates.

This team is sponsored by Cervelo. Forgotten which country they are representing.

That’s a Ducati which was driven by the media at the event.

My Recovery Ride

After missing from cycling for 3-4 months, I’ve finally had my first recovery ride.

The ride was at Putrajaya, 42km in total.

And guess who decided to join us on that very same day? Derrick, the photographer behind Futagozastudio tagged along for the ride.

Yamiya (middle) also joined us that day after missing for couple of months.

On that very same day, there was the pre le tour de Langkawi event going on at Putrajaya.

Free flow of Milo were given out on that very same day. And we a cup or two after our long ride. It was refreshing.

Cycling On World AIDS Day 2008

On the 1st of December 2008 was World AIDS Day. Kev, myself and some cyclist friends gathered at Berjaya Times Square that very morning for a ride. We were there as early as 6.30am.

Surprisingly, many cyclists turned out on that day. Some even brought their family members along.

There’s a couple who came with their tandem bicycle.

Some came with mountain bike.

As for me, I came with my road bike.

Uncle Choy and his friend were there too.

Uncle Choy brought his foldable bike, known as folding bike, which weigh 11kg. If you wish to get anything lighter, it would double the price.

Apologize about the video. I oriented the camera wrongly because I thought you were taking a photo. LOL!

While some came with some rather interesting looking bike. This one is called the recumbent bicycle which places the rider in a reclined position.

There were different type of recumbent bicycle. This one only have two (2) wheels.

Just before the event start, me and Hsing Ling were camwhoring.

At approximately 8am, the ride officially took off. We were escorted by police and support cars throughout the ride. And we practically cycled the whole of KL city. It was a really rare opportunity as it would usually be really dangerous to ride in town due to the traffic.

Putrajaya Critical Mass

Every last Friday of the month, there will be a critical mass ride at Putrajaya. In the last two (2) rides, over 100 riders joined.

Two (2) Fridays ago, me and my usual group joined the Putrajaya Critical Mass for the very first time. I personally have not seen so many cyclists gather for one ride before. The reason why the ride was brought forward one (1) week before was due to Merdeka celebration the following week as many may be away for holiday, etc.

Since it was a slow ride, some even come with their families and kids. Such an inspiration.
