IFTC Spring/Summer Fashion Show 2009
On the 22nd April 2009, International Fashion Training Centre (IFTC) held a fashion show at Sungai Wang in conjunction of the Spring/Summer fashion week. For this fashion show, I showcased two (2) of my work - both short dresses.

All the dresses were arranged before the fashion show.

Before the fashion show, there was an interview session showcasing students work - the leopard prints.

Love It Or Hate It
There’s no doubt that we all love to own a piece of designers’ goods. Be it handbags, shoes, accessories or clothes. Designers being designers, are supposed to be the trend setter. But very often, designers tend to let their imagination go wild to the extend of creating something that would make you either go WOW or

Why not I let you judge for yourself? ![]()

All hail to the queen of Egypt?

This outfit probably inspired by the king of fruit - durian. I would like to wear this one to sleep. I’m sure it would keep me warm during the cold night. Can you imagine me in it? ![]()

But I definitely wouldn’t want to wear an umbrella upside down. Once you fall, you might not be able to get up.

Now you can always take your bird out for a walk in the park. Just like how you would walk your dog.

How about a retro boots? Errrr… When would one ever get to wear that? Gosh! Maybe some costume party, eh?

Finally, high heel flippers for those who want to scuba dive in style! Very creative indeed!

Work In Progress…
I’ve been working on an avant gart bridal gown over a month. I had to buy a roll of interfacing and bridal satin to make this. Which cost me a boom. Haven’t calculate the beading cost yet.

The origami tail will go over the top of the dress as a top piece. Means the dress can be wore on it own or with the added origami top, which can be really heavy.
The dress is inspired by Christian Dior Couture Spring 2007.

mifa! @ The Garden
Two (2) weeks ago, I attended the mifa’08 (Malaysia International Fashion Award) fashion at The Garden MidValley with Steph. It was our second time attending mifa. The first one was at KL Convention Center last year.
This year round, or I would say both this year (this and last year). Based on my experience, the event was poorly managed.
Firstly, those who emailed or called in to RSVP for the event are counted as walk-in visitor because they were not given the black and white copy of the invites even though they told us to print the email and show as proof. WTF!?! To obtain those invites, you have to be “somebody” and I really mean “somebody somebody“. Either you know people from the inside or you’re a designers or some sort of VVIP/VIP. Which I don’t give a shit! But after all, they are their big bosses.
Secondly, even though they may have plenty of unoccupied seats inside in the hall, they have to let the VIPs enter first. So big deal, eh? And we, the normal people/walk-in visitor/the nobody have to wait till all the VIPs are seated first and if, BIG IF, IF there are still available seats, then only they will let you in. Wah lau wei!!! A little too much, right? This really put people off, you know? What happened to those people travel to KL from outstation, and some took the trouble to take leaves just to attend the shows? This will really discourage them from attending the following year.
And thirdly, so what if it’s a big event? Very BIG EVENT, hor? Why are there so many restrictions? Why spend so much money on publicities when they can’t even hire the right people to manage the event properly. Oooooh, I understand… Mifa is a profit making event and all they want is to take money from the government. Oops! It’s true anyway. Sue me!
Anyway, this year around, the running settings were better compared to last year. There were more seats and the place were bigger as well. I personally do like the decorations and the combination of colours used on the runway. They even have chandelier in the hall. Very classy.

Our very own Miss World Malaysia 2007 - Deborah Henry was the host for the entire event.

I only attended two (2) of the shows on the first day of mifa. Couldn’t really bother to attend the reminding one even though I have RSVP them. You know why la. And also because I didn’t want to take the risk of being disappointed if they really do ran out of seats and I might have to resort to hanging outside and yet still pay for parking. The parking was not cheap at all. That day itself, I spent 11 hours at MidValley and the parking fee came out to total of RM8!!! Just imagine if I were to attend all four (4) days event. Siao wei!!!
I’m not too sure the Gala night turned out. But those events were not open to public. Hmmm… How can I ever on the list?
The Truely Asia show was very boring. Nothing to shout about and some of the clothes are just so not practical. Yes, it’s creative but ermmm… I don’t know. On the other hand, the mifa8 show was really good. I was in fact very impressed by the work produced by the participants! They were only students and I thought their design really rock it! *two (2) thumbs up*
But I do wonder how many of them really made the outfits themselves. I’m sure it is impossible to produce ten (10) outfits all by themselves. Okay, it is possible but it wouldn’t be as easy.
Photoshoot: Evon T
Short note: Do you believe in other’s prediction? It can be really scary if their prediction do come to past. Ever thought world end would be so near? There’s still so many things that I would want to do and achieve, such as travel the world, get married and have kids. Why oh why…
…………………………………………………………………………………………………..
Some time back, my dearest had a collaborative shoot with Macdude from Autodetailer. Mac’s clients mostly own big cars. While for this case, he managed to arrange a shoot to use his client’s Ducati 1098S. On the other hand, my dearest managed to get Evon to model with the superbike. Wow! How cool is that? ![]()

The was another other superbike at Mac’s garage - BMW Boxercup R1100S. HOT!

There was this corset that I’ve made for myself. My dearest thought it would be a good idea to get Evon to model in it. But turned out that the corset was too small for her. Well, I made it for myself, so it gonna be my size, right?

Nevertheless, Evon managed to fit in it because the corset was adjustable at the back. And she looks hot in it! ![]()

I must say, Evon is really easy to work with and certainly a versatile model. My dearest has worked with her a couple of times before this shoot. ![]()

Man! I look so short standing beside Evon. She’s over 170cm, by the way. ![]()
For more photos of the shoot, click here, here, here and here.
PS: The price of the Ducati is about the same as a Totoya Camry. Approximately RM160k for one.
An Unfinished Business
Short note: Have you ever have big dreams and tried so hard to get there, but then you’re still so far away from it? I DO! Damn! If only fairy godmother do exist, then I will be will be a princess overnight! LOL! (It’s a joke, by the way)
…………………………………………………………………………………………………..
At least I had enough rest after having to burn midnight oil for the last couple of days.
I spend my Saturday afternoon working on my little project that I’ve left untouched for couple of weeks since the last fashion show. Why? First of all, my dress got rejected because my principle said the cloth was rather too white for bridal? Secondly, I make a huge mistake on the draping which did not turn out as what I wanted (as well as my principle). So, I decided to aboard the project and not take part in the show, just to concentrate on my assignments. It was a critical period for me as I was rushing to complete my PSF that time. By looking back, if I were to redo the whole dress again, I guess I may not have given my best back then. It could have been a missed opportunity. But at this moment, my degree still come first. You probably would ask, why did I decided to take up two (2) different majors in the first place? Well, back then I thought I was able to handle it. Do I feel regret? Not really. Because it served as a backup plan for me after I graduate. ![]()
Anyway, this is how the draping supposed to look. The draping itself took me over two (2) weeks to complete because I didn’t have a mannequin back then.

I wasted two (2) meters of chiffon just for that draping. No one say studying fashion is cheap. The material is already the killer!

A week before the fashion show, I rip off the chiffon and was hoping to start over again. But I abandon the project due to my assignments and thought I would just finish it on my own instead during my free time. More like, treating it as my little project instead.
In total, I bought six (6) meters of soft net which cost me close to a hundred and two (2) and a half (1/2) meters of dutches satin which cost RM80/meter. The initial plan was to use the soft net as a long tail for the bridal dress.
But now, I have better use for the soft net. The white net alone did not compliment the dress. So I had to spend a little more money to add yellow and orange net to go along with it. Sigh. More $$!

This small portion of handwork took me nearly four (4 hours)! And I probably need another twenty one (21) hours more to complete the whole dress (according to my rough estimation).

Emporio Armani - Diamond
It’s finally here!!!!!!!!!!
Two (2) weeks ago, Emporio Armani was having promotion on their new fragrance - Diamond, at KLCC. The perfume was officially launched last year June and Malaysia only got it recently? Normal la.
The bottle didn’t look as pretty as I thought it would be, but the fragrance was definitely a turn on! ![]()

And the best thing is, my friends bought it for me as my belated birthday! A big thank to my dear friend Alex and his gang. *Grin*
Photo Shoot With Bart Lapers
Four (4) weeks ago, we had a photo session with Bart Lapers, a photographer from Belgium, at Maya Hotel, while my dearest was the lighting technician on that day. Models who are present on that day were Joyce and Joanne.

What I didn’t understand is why ‘some’ photographers like to move around when they are shooting at one location. Funny, isn’t it?

I think Bart looks really handsome, he could be a male model himself. ![]()

Man, both of them are really tall. Wished I was slightly taller.
* Some photos courtesy of Bart and Kevin.
*Studio photos can be found at Bart’s website.
